@Aella13 : not yet as I started like one month ago and I have already spent a huge of money in GW paints, but I'll follow your lead and look into it soon. I'll keep you posted :)

@Millenia: I highly recommend Vallejo Surface Primer for brushing on. It shrinks slightly as it dries so it doesn't obscure details. I would still thin it a little though (I use Vallejo's Thinner Medium, but just plain water is also fine for this).

@Aella13: I paint fairly slowly, and am leaving my Forgotten King heroes till last, so I suspect you will get your faces video done first, but if not I will definitely ask here - the skin tones on your figures are really really nice.

I watched all of your videos and I enjoyed them, good job! I hope you keep making more.

As I've mentioned on the boards before I have done a ton of kitbashing/building miniatures but not a lot of painting, but I have promised myself that I am painting my entire SDE collection...we'll see if it happens!

Two question for you:
Do you like to wash or dry brush first?
How soon do you wash or dry brush, do you have to wait after the base coat or do you do it right away?

@AzureKnight: Thanks! I tend to get any drybrushing out of the way as soon as possible because I believe it is the messiest technique. Always wait for the basecoat to dry before you drybrush/wash or you will get smudgy paint.

Tabbybrook Mage
painted by Aella13.

I modified the Tabbybrook a little because I did not like the way she was sitting on the base. I ended up removing almost 3mm from the bottom of her dress, but she now matches up more closely to her Freyjan sisters in height.

Smart move in reducing the height of the Tabbybrook Mage. She looks all the better for it.

Great thread! Lovely paintjobs throughout and congrats with finishing the FK set.

The cats are inspired, such cute noses!

Claw Shrines painted by Aella13. I imagine the Shrines to be a sort of sacrificial altar, so I splattered them with blood…

Black Claw Assassins painted by Aella13.

Swampies painted by the Hubby. He converted a traffic cone on one of their heads as an homage to the Plants vs. Zombies game. Don't ask me how a traffic cone ended up in Crystalia, I blame those pesky nether rifts!

I have such a case of pink envy looking at your work! It's beautiful!

And I love the idea you had to cut the Tabbybrook down to size, and the blood splatter on the CLaw Shrine and just...Why didn't Fanboy and I think of bloody mouths on the zombies!

I love the Plants vs Zombies reference! You should stick some lawn & daisies on his base!
Great stuff in this log, keep it up.

Hey guys, I have more shinies for you today:

Gruesome George painted by the Hubby. He's a patchwork of different skin colours stitched together. Eww.
Image

Shamble Priest
painted by the Hubby. He's especially proud of the playing card in his hat.
Image

Dragon Blade
painted by Aella13. The colours in the original card artwork for the Dragon Blade were various hues of blues and greens. I prefer a more limited palate so I tried to mix up a colour between the green and blue and ended up with aqua.
Image

His cloak provided a good opportunity to demonstrate the layering technique for my next video which I’ll be posting next week.

Brave-Mode Candy and Never-Lost Cola painted by Aella13. I modified her eyes slightly as I believe the pre-sculpted irises have a tendency to give her a cross-eyed look.

Pudges painted by The Hubby.

Prowlers painted by The Hubby.

I really like the flesh on the zombies. What was used?

@Veknoid: The flesh tone for the Pudges and Prowlers is a base of 1:1 mix Ordic Olive and Trollblood Highlight. I mixed in Jack Bone to highlight. All P3 Formula paints so far. Then I hit the skin tone with a Seraphim Sepia wash (Citadel) to tone it back to a yellowy pallor.

I dot on Nurgle's Rot (also Citadel) to create pustules/blisters and paint it on for the rips in the skin where the pus is leaking out.

The Hubby and I played a Super Dungeon game with a friend last night and it occurred to me that I haven't updated this thread in a while!

Princess Malya by Aella13.
Image

I slightly converted Princess Malya because I didn’t like the fact that she has two sets of ears (although I get that it’s an homage to her Relic Knights incarnation…). Now it looks like her rabbit ears are attached to her new headband.
Image

Succubus Vandella by Aella13. To be honest she’s seen more table time as her heroic incarnation than her miniboss version.

Really love you minis. Nice Youtube channel you have there too. :geek:
I've been looking at your "One Shot" painting tutorial, just a quick question. Do you apply the acrylic paint directly to the model or have you added a acrylic base coat first? Regards :geek:
