Figured I should start my own thread with some examples and such of my work so far.

My very first figure I painted last year was my Paladin.

Not for this kickstarter, but we love us some pirates! ;)

Make the weapon metal, grey or black! NOT purple!

Yea purple overload would not work out that well I'm assuming. I considered a glowing green as well potentially.

I've got another test of hair color shifts.

I think I like the double down on the dark purple with violet skin tone and then green contrast/compliment in the sword and eyes (and the eyes on the shield skull.)

Personally I like the double purple better than purple+white. The contrast was a little hard on the eyes.

That's what I was thinking too, it was a big debate. I'm trying to do a callback to the Dark Trolls from Warcraft 3 (eventually I'd like to pick up a second box to do Ice Trolls and maybe another for Forest Trolls because I want extra Salt Minibosses to redo in Fire/Ice as well.) I chose White for heavy contrast but it ended up too much.

Pink hair is a possibility as well.
Or if you dare, black hair! They are "dark" after all.

A douched red like this one looks good as well.

Yea I was looking at the defaults with the black/pink hair.

The bottom troll is a Dark Troll which is actually a bit different =P

The stone look is an interesting take on the models.
I absolutely get why you did it with the cracks and all on the models.
Makes me wonder if metal could ever crack like that?
It looks good regardless :)

Did you ever make a decision with the trolls?

I wanted them to match the spawn point as much as possible really, so the stone/green color scheme was fitting. I did do one step extra on the helmet that I'm going to retroactively do on the spawns which was a light black wash on the stone afterwards which evens it out and darkens the cracks.

The Billman was a hell to paint though, I did /not/ enjoy painting that model whatsoever, and sadly have like another 7 to do.

I think I'm going purple with the dark purple hair. Going to wrap up the Briar Knight Spawn Point then give them a shot.

Purple will be weird to me, its a color I've never really painted.
