Looks great! Your style is perfect for the cartoony SDE minis with your quite extreme contrasts. Looking forward to seeing your drakes - are they going to be blue like the crystal or red like the boss?

I think i'm going to paint them like their daddy, but with orange dots.
I have painted the cristal in blue because i though putting on the table a red crystal with red dragons will be a lot of red on the table :p

I'm also thinking of maybe doing a little conversion here on some draggonlings ...

Yeah that was a quick one

For the future i've decided that i'll convert the bases of the incoming minions to give them something related to their spawning point, so for the dragonlings it will be bones, cristal and egg shell.

Two weeks to paint just one miniature? No doubt, I even dare to begin to learn how to paint miniatures...

Don't worry! A single model can usually be done in an hour or two.
My bet is a lot of the two weeks were used to just stare at it and consider how to paint it perfectly ;)

That's exactly what i did, (and my work take me way too many time, that don't help me to spend more time painting ... ) but i think i'm more around 20 hours for this mini ^^.

But i was trying to push my skills further, so that's not representative on how much time you must spend to paint a miniature.

Here are some wip of the conversion done to the dragonlings with eggs/cristals made of Miliput.
I'll post better pics once the basecolors will be airbrushed.

Associating the bases with the spawner is a really cool idea :)

Thanks, i hope my poor sculpting skills will be enough ! :D

As some people were talking about airbrush in another topic on these forums i've decided to put some pics of the airbrushing process.

The following pictures are just two layers put on the mini : a Dark blue and red. I use them as a base before using the brush to make the final highlights and shadows. I've spend about 30-45 minutes to paint all the dragonlings this way.

As airbrush doesn't give me enough contrast i've been going hard on the red. I found easier to do some washes to accentuate the contrast than to repaint the highlights with a brush (they aren't done yet).

I must steal the egg idea, it will give me inspiration to paint another trio of drakes...

Love the Egg Clutch spawn point and Pudge!

Thanks !

I have just updated my previous post with better photos, as the previous one where overexposed. The colors are more accurate now.

Very nice execution on the striped pants and object source lighting on the glowing skull!
