Recently I finally made time to start painting my chibis for Super Dungeon explore. I’ve never painted and chibi miniatures before, and I wanted to try and improve my ability to paint more brightly colored models; most of mine tend towards dark and gritty. To that end, I wanted to do a lot more layering and blending than I normally do. Also, I’ve never done any non-metallic metals, and I wanted to try it out.

The miniatures on the left are various Super Dungeon Explore Miniatures. The I got the kobold used, without a weapon arm or tail, and I had to kit bash a new arm and sculpt a new tail. I painted the Ooze with a gloss varnish to give it the appearance of being wet, which also made it more translucent. I did not expect that, but I really like the effect.

The gypsy between the squirrel and Chibithulhu is the free test model from the current Rocket Pig Games Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rocketpiggames/stout-hearted-heroestm-dungeoneers?ref=user_menu). I printed her ono my 3D printer, and painted her up quickly to test the color scheme I wanted to go with (I have never been happy with my attempts at red hair). I’m really excited about being able to print off a quick “trial mini,” and then going back a taking more time to print and paint a final version once I have the broad strokes of my design figured out. I tend to shy away from things that I have not had good luck with in the past when I’m painting a more expensive character, but when I can print off a test copy of a model for around $.03, I start feeling pretty bold.

The Pumpkinman/Gourd Leshy and Chibithulhu are from the Bone 3 Kickstarter that I received recently. They were a blast to paint, and I got to feel especially festive. I also loved all of the space to paint Chibithulhu’s eyes.

I can't seem to get the Img button/feature to work, so I just posted links. Is there a tutorial or something?

These look great! Especially the mook. I like the blending on the leaves.

This forum is finicky. It can't be over 800 pixels in either dimension in order to show up, first of all, so your pictures are, unfortunately, too big. The formatting is "img" in brackets, then your file location, then "/img" in brackets. All pressing the button does is add that formatting for you to slap your url into.

Thanks!

I'll keep trying with the pictures.

The forum can't figure out the image sizes based on the IMGR client.
