The Ika Chunin and Akkorokamui each have an ability that let's them attack up to 2 and 3 spaces away respectively. If the Defender "wins" against one of these attacks can he select one of his Spirit rolls? I'm assuming yes but it seems odd that a defender could injure an attacker that he couldn't otherwise affect

Also, am I correct in assuming that all the normal LOS rules still apply to the attack?

Is it still a close combat attack for purposes of abilities that affect close combat attacks?

The fire result seems...odd, when applied to these types of attack. Clarification here would be nice.

Thanks!

A "ranged" close combat attack works exactly like any other close combat attack. LOS is required for a regular (adjacent) attack, so would be required for one that extends beyond that. All results will play out exactly as they are written. The fire result isn't supposed to be a positive result, for the most part (disregarding occasional tactical times it may be a good choice). So, it working as written is not all that odd either. It just will (assuming only the attacker and target are involved) only stun the attacker, instead of both.

Agree Usagi. You are just using a ranged attack against a model that is at range 1.
