Injured when you have 2 stun tokens and a protect token

So this came up last night. What happens when you get an injury when you have two stun tokens and have a protect token? Is it:

1. You turn the protect token into a stun token, and have 3 stun tokens, but you are still on the board. What happens if you get a 4th stun token in this case?

2. You turn the protect token into a stun token, and since you have 3 stun tokens you are injured anyway.

3. You turn the protect token into a stun token, but it "negates" the other stun tokens on you (they are "used up" to injure you), so you end up on the board with only one stun token.

4. Something else?

We went with #2 but I'd love to hear what other's think!

Edit: Changed to ask the right question!

If you get a third stun token and you have a protect token, then you can spend the token to ignore it completely. So you would continue to have two stuns, like it never happened.

If you get injured and you use the protect token to downgrade it to a stun, then you would have three stun tokens so you would be injured immediately as normal (unless you have another protect token you can spend, see above).

Gotcha. Yes, I guess I mistakenly asked the wrong question. I meant when you are injured and you have two stun tokens and a protect token.

So we were right in assuming #2. Thanks!

I would go with 2 as well.

I would also not necessarily say you could pend 2 protects to take no effect from an injury though. The wording on it is a little ambiguous. Might be worth putting in an FAW though.

Yeah, it's also a little unclear what these kind of things mean for XP and Points. I assume that when you receive a stun from something like this, and it causes you to be injured, then your opponent will be due the points for injuring you... But that isn't explicitly stated anywhere. Nor is it clear whether you would get 2 points for injuring a Chunin this way, or if you would get 3 for stunning and injuring him.

Injuring a chunin is only worth 1XP. I do play it that if you stun them into injury (and are not doing it with your own chunin) you get both the stun and injury XP though.
