I'd just like to see someone turn this template:

https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/1188 ... r-template

Into a Magic Set Editor template.

Not for this kickstarter, but we love us some pirates! ;)

SAAAAY... Someone had an interest in making a web-based SDE card creator tool, who knew someone who could actually make it...

Which features would be in demand?

I totally wasn't working on this for like a year on 1.0 and got nothing done, nope. I actually just deleted the document a week ago, we got the design and basic generator done but were stuck on text alignment and image layering.

I think it'd be far, far easier to make an MSE template myself.

I think just a general ability to make the cards and all their stats, choose a background art from a list (or upload one) and choose a foreground art would be great.

MSE is a program that allows you to make custom magic cards.

You can make custom templates for it though and thus custom cards for other games. Its super useful, I haven't looked too much into "coding" templates myself, but I know its definitely possible because they support a lot of other games.

I'm working on a MSE template, but it's taking quite a bit of time to set it up. It's a lot of trial and error, and there are a few things that will likely be missing (I.E. You can't have characters who's art pokes out into the card frame), but even if it's moving at the pace of molasses, at least it's moving FORWARD at that pace.

On that note though, does anyone know which fonts the cards use? I need to know the font used for the title bar of the card, and the one used for the rules text of a card. If they aren't easy to get, I will just have to use a substitute font, but I would prefer to get the real deal if possible.

I'm also throwing in a few things not actually in the game, for people who want to home few up some unique stuff. One of the things I have added is Amethyst affinity. Also a gray 'empty' affinity for characters that don't have any affinity. So if anyone has any requests on that front, of small changes that could be made, I'd be happy to see what I can do.

@Ceetee - Could you please add existing character artwork to the template. I would love to make some RPG type cards (even though legends will probably sate this need) of having levelled cards that you can choose from as you "level up".. SO yea, existing character art please.

@Viscarious, Unfortunately, that isn't really an option with how MSE works. The art for the card images gets loaded in from an image you have saved on your computer somewhere, not from a pre-selected list of them. Even if it did, I don't really have access to digital versions of the original art for the cards. Also as mentioned above, the way MSE works, I can't effectively add a way to have the original characters cards, because their art pokes out into the frame. Your best bet would be to check the SDE wiki and see if it has the art, or failing that, email SPM and ask if they would be willing to put together a typical 'fan site kit' that has images of the characters for fans to use.

Once you actually have those images though, it is ABSURDLY simple to start making cards with them, so at least there is that. You should be able to replicate the card for any existing monster or hero, short of having artwork for them.

If you do manage to get ahold of them though, I would love to have them! I'm planing on making mini-boss cards for all the existing heroes, and make dark heroes for the remaining minibosses. Maybe make all the Crystal Princesses be actual bosses, instead of minibosses.

Not to mention you can export the card art as other file types and add the character art manually and make them stick over the frame and such.

I really appreciate your efforts Ceetee, will be awesome to see and use when its done (I also like the Amethyst class and other minor things.

So I've been working on a web based SDE Card Creator - it's still rough and a fair number of features are not there yet.

http://rpg.medicationforall.com/sdecardcreator/

I would appreciate feedback, and let me know what you think.

Very nice and super easy to use.
I miss a way to insert icons in the keyword line and within abilities.

What is that output image format? json???
Couldnt it be png or pdf?

Thanks for trying it out!
Yeah it doesn't do icons in the keywords and Abilities... yet.

The save and load on the page is the raw data fomat; incase you want to make a card and load it back into the editor.
I could change the wording to something like import and export, but I'm not sure that's going to be helpful.

It does not output images.. would that useful?
As is you can print the page and it will output only the card which hopefully via the editor you can scale for printing.

The easiest way to create a pdf is to print the page in chrome and output the results to a pdf.
Another option is take a screenshot.
