it's part and parcel of getting resin sculpts, you get more detail, but you gotta do some cleanup work first, maybe you should have waited before jumping in head first

The cleanup is just one of the issues.

To give a brief recap of what I had said before, the original plastics were WAY better than this, in all respects.

OG plastics are not more detailed than this model, not by any means

I agree. It's very noticeable as I start to paint my relic knight heroes. In the hands of a novice/amateur painter even I can tell! They'll probably look the same in the end anyways though :3

Here's a detail comparison of the exact same model in both plastic and resin:

I'd say the difference is very noticeable.

Oh come now. While I understand not everyone wants to have to deal with modelling aspects its very clear no clean up has been done on the resin. A little filing and she sits just fine.
(You were possibly/probably being sarcastic. It's hard to tell around here anymore though. I do feel for people who just don't like resin. I don't love it, but don't mind it either. The new line is too pricey for my blood, but I understand the reasoning behind it.)

I will say SPM should take a lesson from their TK sculpt, if their "Masterclass" aren't going to have standard SDE bases they should at least have detailed unique bases like TK. At least that adds to the uniqueness and Masterclass...ness.

Yeah it was sarcasm :)

Though, the original has the bland, expresionless face. The resin looks half asleep...maybe its just the lighting around the the mouth :|

I must say the KD Twilight Knight base is cool, but I think those are the same bases they use for the KD models, right? So maybe that's where they got them.

I finally started painting some of my NAS heroes and they also have cool bases.

Ultimately, I'm all for *some* textured bases over the blank one if possible, especially if we're going to be paying resin prices. I never want to feel obligated to flock my minis no matter how cool it could be!

Nope her base is part of her model and not a seperate piece. When you get her she is all one cast no assembly needed.

The newer one is resculpted not just recast, so it's not the exact same model.

I'd have to drag out my Survivor Candy to check, but I'm pretty sure the faces on the SDE base have a more anime proportion to them than the KD bases.

Gosh that makes twilight Knight even cooler. Makes it odd to consider she’s the same price as the tako heroes minus the bundle.

I really hope the card corner thing has an explanation, even if that explanation is just 'we screwed up and printed the cards wrong.' Because if all the new cards are going to have square corners I'm just going to flip a table. Not that they will be able to see me do it, but I will know.

It's kinda funny that they are "cutting corners" by not cutting the corners.

Official SPM Tusk Raider Assembly video

Lawrence has some pretty cool rings.

Yes. He does talk about the flat base and how he prefers it to the flagstone base.

Well I think it just lovely that he likes to make fake snow with sand and white paint but it still won't match the other 300+ minis I own for this game.

Or can I send all my minis to him and have him customize all my bases for me?

I think someone on chibi gamers fb group is printing cobblestone bases now. Obviously extra but it’s an option.

Kinda makes me cringe that he is putting the figure together without painting...

bases are pretty easy and cheap to make up myself, so it doesn't bother me of course, flat bases are kinda best for most games because.. well, take this game.. there are some tiles set in a dungeon, so the floor should more be big blocks, of stone where the flat cobblestone doesn't work.. there are some tiles in the grass where it shouldn't be the cobblestone either. There are some tiles in a old manor house etc.. specialists bases often make that kinda thing a bit weird.. not a huge problem but a bit weird ^_^

that said, I do like the Super Dungeon ones, and for my own ones, I mostly print off similar looking bases. tons of places sell bases like that, or if you want to, get some modelling clay and you can buy textured rolling pins to make your own quickly and easily.

@Manicman haha, me, too! Of course that wasn't the point of the video.

Regarding the bases not matching the tilesets, that's going to happen when you play. I mean, they had the cobblestone bases when the tiles were mostly rock and lava in 1.0!

I think that base matching the tiles is more aesthetically pleasing if you are building your own terrain/presentation. From a gameplay perspective, I really just want the base to fit onto the printed tiles and 'fit in' with the other models. The Tusk Raider covers so much of his base that it's not noticeable since his style fits with the other heroes, imo.

I think it'd be more noticeable on raised models, like the Warg.
