Hi all, after months of slow (glacial) determined progress I've completed my first set of RK figs, the star nebula corsairs starter box. Many of the paintings are subtle experiments with lighting and color and it allowed me to play around my some of my more neglected paints.

first up are the corsairs, I don't like having repeat figs in a group if I can help it so I proxied in two models. Each of these are pained with a different color of directional light.

next is the broadside, had some fun with blue shades and some very subtle osl.

Harker, here I went for some really deep shadows, to make him more foreboding.

And finally Ceaser, this guy was just plain fun! I painted him as a classic scarlet macaw.

Here are some detail shots to show off some hidden bits.

Hope you enjoy, and I hope to have some more entries completed by the end of the year. I also have some of the old pewter cast figs painted if there is any interest in seeing those.

I quite enjoy your work. Who makes the alternate figs? Your Broadside is inspirational (I can't say that I enjoyed painting mine too much...).

Thanks for the compliments guys. @Ischuros, the broadside was one of the most time consuming pieces I've done in quite some time and more than somewhat frustrating.

The proxy models are from two different manufacturers.

The female proxy is raven skye from bombshell miniatures and I chopped and swapped some of the corsairs weapons on her to fit better.

The male proxy is cesspool from dark age, the blister comes with an alternate head (with out the mask), which I used.

Cheers!

This is the go to reference for how to paint Corsairs. Awesome!

WOW!! This is impressive. If I wasn't in the know, I doubt I would even notice the integration of other companies manufactured sculpts. That's incredible.
